Two people holding each other close at dusk
LGBTQIA+ Couples Therapy · Online, Australia-wide

For couples who love each other — and keep missing each other.

Queer and LGBTQIA+ couples therapy, right across Australia. No one handed you a map for this — so we skip the explaining and get to the work: finding the miss, and reaching for each other again.

No one hands queer couples a map. You've had to invent more of your relationship than most — who you are to each other, what family means, how you love out loud. Most therapy wasn't built for that. Here, it's the starting point, not the thing you have to explain — so we skip the explaining and get to the work that counts: the reaching, the missing, the finding your way back.

How it works

Starting is the gentlest part.

Three unhurried steps — from a no-pressure hello to ongoing work at a pace that suits you.

STEP 01

Free 15-minute chat

Not sure yet? Book a free, no-pressure video call and get a feel for whether we fit — before you commit to anything.

STEP 02

First session

A relaxed 90-minute session, online from your own couch. We start with what's been happening — no diving into the deep end.

STEP 03

Ongoing work

75-minute sessions at a rhythm that suits you. No blame, no taking sides — steady work on the pattern underneath, until you're reaching for each other again.

Why the Lounge

Built around you — before you say a word.

The difference

Queer-led & culturally safe

You won't have to explain what it's like to be you, or bring your therapist up to speed first. Led from inside the community, and a safe space for every culture, body and relationship.

Gottman & Perel-trained

The practical repair skills of the Gottman Method (Level 2), and Esther Perel's eye for desire and aliveness — well-researched approaches, reshaped for how queer relationships really work.

For the relationship

No blame, no taking sides. My client isn't either of you — it's the relationship itself, the living thing between you all. I listen for what it's been trying to say, and help you find your way back to each other.

Online, Australia-wide

Meet from your own couch — a capital city, a regional town, anywhere the map reaches. Secure video, no waiting room, no commute.

Finding the miss · understanding your pattern

You haven't fallen out of love. You've fallen out of sync.

The same argument on a loop. The silence that's easier than the fight. The distance that crept in while you were all just getting through the week.

It's rarely about not caring.

It's the miss — the moment one of you reaches and doesn't quite land.

It runs on a loop you can't see from the inside. My job is to help you name it together, build the few moves that break it, and get you reaching for each other again — not just fighting less.

Who it's for

All of you, welcome.

When did you last feel truly wanted by the people who know you best?

Whoever you are, and however you love. Together for years, or on your first hard conversation. Married, or building something all your own. Two of you, or more than two. Monogamous, open, or polyamorous. Trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse partners, welcome exactly as you are. Questioning, exploring, or somewhere you don't have a word for yet — you're welcome exactly as you are, whatever's shifting. Every kind of us belongs here.

Every kind of us

Behind the Lounge · meet your therapist

Hi, I'm Lauren.

I'm a couples therapist — and I'm queer myself. I know what it's like to walk into a room and spend the first while explaining your own life before anyone can help you with it. I built Queer Love Lounge so that here, you never have to.

You've had to invent more of your relationship than most — with far fewer maps to go by. There's real skill in that. My job is to help you draw a few of the ones you were never handed.

This practice is queer- and Aboriginal-led. As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker trained in the Gottman Method (Level 2) and Esther Perel's approach, I've reshaped both for how queer relationships actually move — at a pace that stays unhurried. I call it the Lounge Method: pull up a chair, find the miss, reach again.

Your first session

Your first hour, unhurried.

This is the heart of the Gottman work I'm trained in: the couples who last aren't the ones who never rupture — they're the ones who repair, and find their way back within the hour. That's a skill, and it's learnable.

01

All of you, together

We meet over secure video — you and your partner or partners, from your own space. Comfortable clothes, a cup of tea, and the names, pronouns and words you use for your relationship — all welcome.

02

We start with your story

No diving into the deep end. We begin with how you got here — your history together, what's changed, what's been happening lately — so we can name the strengths you're already standing on, and the pattern that keeps tripping you up.

03

The pattern, not the person

I'm not here to decide who's right. When things go wrong, it's rarely one person — it's the cycle you're caught in together. My job is to help you step outside it and see it clearly.

04

You leave with a map

You'll leave with the start of a map — a clearer sense of what's driving the distance between you, what's already working, and a first step you can take toward each other.

Good questions

Before you book — honest answers.

Do you work with open and polyamorous relationships?
Yes. Every relationship structure is genuinely welcome here — monogamous, open, poly, solo-poly, and relationships with more than two people — and you won't have to explain or justify yours before we can begin.
Do I have to be queer to see you?
Not at all. Queer Love Lounge is queer-led — built from lived experience, and without the usual assumptions about who you are or how you love. That lens makes it a safe, genuinely useful place for any couple. It's especially suited to relationships where someone is questioning or exploring their sexuality or gender, couples staying close through a change in who one of you is, and anyone who simply wants a therapist who won't assume. You're welcome exactly as you are.
One of us is exploring their sexuality or gender — can you help?
Yes — this is some of the most meaningful work I do. When one person is questioning their identity, a relationship can hold real uncertainty and deep love at the same time. I help you stay connected and honest through it, with room for whatever you each discover and no agenda about where it lands.
Does online therapy really work for couples?
For most couples, yes — and being at home often makes the harder conversations feel a little safer. Structured, evidence-based couples work translates well to video, and it's how Queer Love Lounge is built: online, wherever you are in Australia, from a space where you already feel comfortable.
What if only one of us is ready to start?
That's completely normal — often one person reaches out first. Everyone's welcome exactly as you are, and the free 15-minute chat is a low-stakes way to test the water together.
How do we start, and what does it cost?
Start with a free 15-minute intro call, or book straight into a first session (90 min, $240). Ongoing sessions are 75 min at $190. Once we’ve talked and found a time, a $50 deposit confirms it — and comes off your fee. Everything's online, private fee, and GST-free. Book below, or email lovelounge@bodybelongingclinic.com.au.
